A family of foxes has baffled wildlife experts after setting up home in a tree - 30-foot off the ground.

Amazed Donna Martell, 26, of Ipswich, Suffolk, first spotted the animals in her back garden earlier this month.

Since then, she and her partner, Carl Clark, 33, have seen them climbing the tree on an almost daily basis, with three spotted at one time.

The animals normally live in underground burrows, but are thought to have chosen their lofty perch to bask in the sun in the recent cold weather.

'We were sitting down having breakfast one morning when I saw something in the tree," said Miss Martell.

'I thought it was a cat at first and then thought "oh my God, that's a fox".

'They keep coming back. They're up there most days.'

Julian Roughton, of Suffolk Wildlife Trust, said it was an 'unusual' nesting place for foxes.

'Foxes are quite inquisitive creatures but this is unusual behaviour for them,' he said.

'They must feel very safe in the tree and it might be that they are enjoying a sunny spot.'
