Would you like to know more about the history of Trabant? What life in Hungary was like under Communism and what has happened since? What happened to the boots of Stalin? Where is the ‘biggest bottle opener of the world’? We’ll set-out on tour on mighty Trabant and show what remains of the communist urban landscape & architecture that will include a Trabant drive to the old socialist statue park to Memento Park.

Optional program: 0,5 - 2 hours extra

Drink some refreshments in one of the few bars that survived the various waves of modernization or have a lunch where customary Hungarian cuisine is provided on typical red-checked tabletop.
You can also check out some vintage shops to browse through artifacts, or drive to out to the Ecseri Flea Market to hunt for some old communist relics.

Discover Budapest’s Jewish heritage 3 hours

Hungary has the largest Jewish population in Central Europe and the second largest synagogue in the world. The tour shows you not only the religious traditions but also the active artistic and historical heritage. Next to the Jewish quarter we even take you down to the Shoes on the Danube Memorial near the Parliament and visit another hidden memory.

Taste around Budapest 3 hours

During this tour we will stop at different parts of Budapest to introduce you the drinking and eating habits of the Hungarian people. We will also provide some insights into the latest food trends as well as tasting some traditional drinks and food. As an appetizer, taste the Lángos at Pest side, then let us take you to a new hidden place on the Buda side. In this closed garden after 5 minutes you will totally forget that you are in the busy Budapest. At this very special atmosphere you can taste the latest cake and ice cream trends with a coffee or try the Hungarian Fröccs. On the way back to the Pest side we will stop at Citadella so you can take the best picture of Budapest from above.

Driving to the countryside 4 hours

First we teach you how to drive a Trabant, then we hand over your itinerary and the rest of the treasure hunting documentation. The route leads through scenic Szentendre to the medieval town of Visegrad. You’ll see the impressive beauty and spectacular nature from the banks of the Danube.

Royal feast in the Renaissance restaurant in Visegrád 1,5 hours.

After fulfilling the tasks of the treasure hunt a 3 dish royal feast awaits you in a medieval restaurant where you can enjoy your meals in renaissance costumes.

Sightseeing at Visegrád 1,5 hour

Walking up to the castle which sits on top of a steep hill, with a view of one of the most beautiful parts of Hungary. You can take the path back down to the riverside or visit the Royal Palace and the Solomon Tower.

Knights’ tournament and medieval teambuilding 1,5- 2 HOURS (from 20pax)

Before turning back to Budapest you can take part in a knights’ tournament in the medieval building of the Solomon tower.

Discover Budapest’s hidden gems 3 hours

The setting is provided by the breath-taking city of Budapest. The goal of the game is to find themed venues and fulfil tasks as per certain criteria. The participant follow the routes in small teams. They will get an iPAD for navigation and to fulfill the tasks. It is essential that the task should be completed creatively, even with the involvement of locals.

Optional:

Apart from the ‘obligatory’ sights, guests can get a chance to see various districts, hidden places, with their guides telling exciting stories or taste Hungarian traditional foods such as Langos.

Unique historic venue

The game takes place on one of the largest islands in the River Danube, Csepel, in the area of the iconic Csepel Works (Weiss Manfred Steel and Metal Works). The 240-hectare factory town has 19 underground World War bunkers left in their original condition; the exploration of one of them is an integral part of the program.

The program 4 hours(up to 20 participants)

Geocache game built around a war theme, taking place in an imaginary war zone. All that the participants can rely on are their Trabants and GPS’s.
The teams must drive their Trabants on a route defined by GPS coordinates, and complete exciting tasks at each station to be able to proceed. The goal is to find shelter in the bunker before the air-raid. In the bunker, a high-performance audio system simulates the air-raid, after which each survivor can breathe a sigh of relief. Survival requires coordinated team work.

Lunch at Kopasz Dam 1-2 hours

After the big war, the survivors can have lunch at Kopaszi Dam☺ The beautiful green Kopaszi Dam or Lágymányos Bay is a must-see area of Budapest… At the iconic ‘ten green area’ on the Buda-side, you can enjoy the magnificent riverside setting, full of small restaurants, cafés, and terraces.

Stalin, Perestroika and Sputnik! All pages in history books now but one communist achievement lives on after the Berlin wall came down- the mighty Trabant! East Germany’s cardboard contribution to the motoring dream of millions can now be yours and, in the spirit of Glasnost we have cut out the 10-year waiting list!

KARL

1958 marked the production of the original Trabant, the P50. This car was the base model of the Trabant series, and even the latest 1.1s shared a large number of interchangeable parts. The 500 cc 18 hp (13 kW) P50 evolved into a 20 hp (15 kW) version in 1960, gaining a fully synchronized gearbox amongst other things, and finally got a 23 hp 600 cc engine in 1962, becoming the P60.
HEIDI

One of the last models that was produced in 1990, it also has two-stroke engine with two cylinders. At the end of production in 1989, the Trabant delivered 19 kW (26 horsepower). It took 21 seconds to accelerate from 100 km/h (60 mph) and had a top speed of 100 km/h (62 mph).
BRÜNHILDE

The combination of the vehicle's very light curb weight (~600 kg) and the engine's ability to go quickly to high revs made its acceleration between 30–50 km/h quite formidable. This model has optional equipment like fog lamps, rear white light and an odometer (as Limousine & Universal).

The engine for 601 is a small two-stroke engine with two cylinders, giving the vehicle modest performance. The combination of the vehicle's very light curb weight (~600 kg) and the engine's ability to go quickly to high revs made its acceleration between 30–50 km/h quite formidable. JÜRGEN

Barkas was the East German manufacturer of small delivery vans and minibuses named the B1000. B1000 production started in 1961 and continued until 1991. It was powered by the 45 horsepower[1] three cylinder and two stroke engine. The B1000 was a remarkable van at the time; the unusually high loading capacity, two-stroke engine, front wheel drive and semi trailing arms suspension differed from the more traditionally constructed vans in the West.
