New York's Subway Is Filled With Monsters, And Not Just The Ones You Can See
COMMUTING IS HELL

New York's subway system is certainly home to some weird creatures. But armed with his imagination and an iPad, Ben Rubin — the artist behind the Instagram account Subway Doodles — has taken to documenting the monsters you didn't even know commuted among us.

Rubin takes photos of the ordinary with his iPad, and then sketches his strange and surreal visions on top of the original scene. You can learn more about his process in an interview he did with the Odyssey

Over the past two years, Rubin has posted more than 350 drawings to the Subway Doodles Instagram page. Often, the creatures he draws seem to be a part of a particular species of fuzzy, blue monster, but he's managed to amass a fair amount of variety.

Some are funny.

Some are scary.

Some have star power.

Some have a sort of weird sexual tension.

And some… well, some of them are all of the above, plus a little something extra.
